And to all a good night!

We had a very nice Christmas Day, although Casey was pretty much oblivious of what was going on. It was a quiet day of Annette and I opening presents for us and for Casey (he gave permission to open his) We had a nice webcam talk with Grandma York and talked on the phone with the Windhorn clan. We all got alot of good loot! Thanks everyone! We look forward to showing Casey all the good stuff when he is ready to notice such things.

Merry Christmas to all!

During this holiday season, we want to wish everyone happiness and safe travels. Our holiday gift of Casey has been a joy beyond our wildest imaginations. We're getting better at running to a nap when the opportunity arises, knowing it may only be a few minutes.

We want to again thank all of our friends and family for seeing us through the years of sorrow and frustration concerning our family and helping us to welcome Casey with open arms!

We managed to squeeze him into the only Christmas outfit we had (which was newborn size) and get a few pictures. He couldn't stretch his legs out all the way but he looked cute and tolerated it long enough to get some good shots. We look forward to a quiet Christmas at home with Casey and the cats and hope yours is wonderful too!

Starting to settle in

More than 2 weeks with Casey now and we're all still hanging in there! Everyone told us how sleep deprived we would be but it has still been a surprise how crazy this schedule is. Annette continues to heal and is a wonderful mother to young Casey. She has become really good at calming him down and it is sweet to hear her singing Christmas carols to him when he is dozing off to sleep. I'm too tired to write a lot here, but here are some of the latest pictures, including some of the cats, who are adjusting pretty well. Belle is still pretty insistent about getting on laps and when she does, she doesn't care if Casey is nearby. They hardly even look up when he is crying and only walk by to smell him every so often and then go off to there own business. We have only put out a few Christmas decorations, and I included a picture of my bells we put on the piano. (Annette has given me a bell or set of bells every year since we were dating)

Casey's first week.

Well, Casey is a week old and so far we are no worse for the wear. A little sleep deprived, yes, but afternoon and evening naps are wonderful. Casey had several outings to the doctor and to the lab for blood tests for bilirubin levels because the doctor said he looked a little jaundiced. Everything is fine now and he is coming close to his original birth weight (the goal generally is to be back to that weight by the 2-week visit and he is 7 lbs. 11 oz as of Thursday). It has been great having Mimi here to help out with Casey (she takes him during parts of the night so we can sleep an hour or so some nights) and she has also cooked, cleaned, and offered useful advice.
His sleep patterns are still kind of backwards, although last night he slept almost solidly between feedings. We have this nice crib and bassinet and he tends to do most of his most peaceful sleeping in his car seat (Thanks for the idea Bryan!)

Anyway, you all just want to see the pictures, so here they are.

Don't count on me doing a post every week, but I'll try to as often as I can.
