Casey hits the coast!

We loaded up the car and headed for Myrtle Beach, SC last week. Casey slept a little on the road, about 2 hours each way (we imagined he would do more, but bumpy roads and sitting in the same seat for so long don't always result in restful sleep). We enjoyed our week as always, and Casey got to visit with his Mimi again and meet his Uncle Mike, Aunt Amy, and cousins Michael (13) and Matthew (8). It was great to see how well Michael and Matthew did playing with him (and being entertained by him). We also had a very nice evening with friends Peggy and Fred Riddle who are usually at the beach the same week as us.

Casey didn't exactly know what to do with the ocean though. We spent a total of about 45 minutes on the beach during the week, and a few minutes at the pool, but Casey stayed dry except for dipping his feet into the ocean (he really wondered what that was about). Mostly, he stayed in the condo and Annette and I got to go out to dinner and to a movie leaving him with Mimi, who was all to glad to baby sit with her third little grandson.

Sleep was a little scarce throughout the week for Casey and the rest of us too. He had a new room, a new bed, lots of extra people and stimulation around, and he started teething a few days before the trip (toothy smile picture included--2 lower teeth) . Oh, and did I mention the motorcycle rally that was going on that week with bikes that seemed to be driving back and forth outside his window literally 24 hours a day (although we were on the 9th floor)? Needless to say, we are all sleeping much better this week.

So, up next for Casey:
  • 6-month doctor's appointment this week.
  • New car seat (yes, he has outgrown his infant seat)
  • Baptism June 22
  • Hopefully, a visit from uncle Bryan, Aunt Lori, and cousins Harrison and Amelia from Mass. at the end of June.
whew!

Waking up is hard to do.

Thought you might all enjoy this video of Casey trying to wake up in the morning. We're really looking forward to his teenage years when we probably won't be able to get him out of the bed (like his dad as a teenager). He has a couple Husker outfits that he will outgrow before football season so we are wearing them out now while we can.
I have 3 more concerts this weekend to sing and then we're off to Myrtle Beach!! Casey is looking forward to seeing the ocean for the first time.

(remember you have to go to the blog site to see the video if you get this via email)

Tummy time graduation!

We weren't sure if this kid was very interested in rolling onto his back from his tummy, but finally last night he just flipped over while no one was looking. I was sitting next to him but talking to Annette in the kitchen and I saw the little legs flop. After that it became difficult to even get it on video because he wouldn't stay on his tummy long enough to get the camera ready! He did it about 8 more times in the next 20 minutes (probably thought we were completely nuts putting him back on his belly every few minutes). Annette said he still remembered how to do it today too! Here are some pictures of earlier tummy time attempts and finally a video from last night. I took out the sound because we were talking alot about other non tummy-related things and didn't think it was needed on the video.
