We had a very nice visit from Casey's Nebraska Grandma and we kept her very busy going to gymnastics, the pumpkin patch, preschool (to observe), the park, and various other errands. She even got to put him down at bedtime the first night she was there. Now we're getting ready for Halloween and then Casey's 3rd birthday at the end of November.
Casey loves going to preschool on Mondays and Wednesdays and seems to be doing very well. (I watched him kiss one of his girl classmates on the arm in the hallway while getting ready to leave the other day, so I guess he's doing better than I thought ... hmm). The teachers have told us several times how smart our little guy is and confirmed that his real purpose for being in preschool is the "socialization" aspect, because he knows most of the other concepts they teach. Needs a little work on sharing, but we'll get there.
We went trick-or-treating at the dorms here on campus last weekend and really cleaned up on the candy! Casey was a little overwhelmed by all the big and little "kids" but got pretty good at holding his little bag open and saying "trick-or-treat" and "thank you." It was kind of dark and hot in the hallways of the dorm, but we walked through about 6 floors of dorm rooms with college kids in costumes handing out lots of candy. Of course we forgot to take the camera. His first Reese's cup caused him to skip a nap, so we'll have to figure out another way/time for him to enjoy his candy.
Hope your Fall is going well everyone!

Night-night time with his Grandma! He likes us to crawl right in the bed with him.

Grandma and I went out to see Tim Conway and Casey had to get in the picture too.

Watching the Husker game. (he spent most of the time counting down with the clock on the screen--didn't help that Nebraska was losing the game as he recited either. "It's almost going to be down to 5 minutes!" -- yeah, don't remind me!)

He kept crawling into Grandma's suitcase. It was very cute during "naked time" too.

Grandma and I were in the yard, dodging the hose every once in a while when Casey changed directions with it. Grandma got sprayed a little more than me. I managed to sprint past between sprays to go in and get the camera.

Preschool class paying pretty good attention to the teacher (Casey on the far left-green "tie-dyed" shirt)

My childhood buddy Dean LeCrone designed shirts for our hometown fire department.

somersault!

Caught it!

Casey helping to sand the walls of the downstairs bathroom (we made sure he was not around to hear the cursing while removing the wallpaper)

Casey really wanted to paint. Bathroom is almost done. A little more painting to do (over the holes I had to patch), install new fixtures and new faucet (light fixture is already in place). Should be done this weekend, I hope.
I got this from a New York Times feature where this artist describes the laws of physics in pictures. This one cracked me up. We can relate in our house.
From the artist:
"Based on super complicated physical observations, Einstein concluded that two objects may perceive time differently. Based on simple life experience, I have concluded that this is true."

The joy of puddles!
