While Mommy is (was) away!

Well, she's back now, but Annette was out of town last week for a work trip. We were very nervous that Casey would melt down with mommy gone for the first time but Casey's Nebraska Grandma York and I were just distracting up a storm for 5 days. Here are a few pictures from the week.

knives are ok, right?

Playing with the shells at the VA Living Museum

Enjoyed looking at all the kids at the museum

well, a bench is always in good taste.

We went on a lot of car trips

pants-less smiling at Grandma

kind of groggy and snugly in the morning.

Annette probably wouldn't have let me take this while she was here but I've always wanted to get him sleeping at night in the crib. Very dark so I had to bring in the tripod and set a long exposure. Gee, don't know why that would be a problem.

Wagon, Ho!!

What's the deal with wagons these days?? Those of you with young kids or grand kids have probably seen wagons in the last few years so you know what I'm talking about. Wagons used to be made of metal. You sprawl out in the bed of the wagon and you are pulled, or you propel yourself and steer with the handle (until you crash), and of course you haul stuff. Well, wagons today are made of plastic and specifically designed for kids to sit in, complete with: contour seats, folding seat backs, cup-holders, a deep well for the feet, seat-belts, plastic wheels, storage compartments, and optional canopies are available (new innovations coming soon: Onstar, MP3, and back-up-camera). The wheels turn for steering but the handle does not move, so no controlling the thing from inside (probably a good idea). And I won't even get into how much they cost!! At least they are still red :)

Anyway, Casey enjoys his new wagon because he can see all around him when on walks.

Just climbing is no longer enough.

SNOW!! ("what in the world is this stuff?")

Well, 2 inches of snow and daddy gets a snow day! Fun for everyone! Of course, Annette still had to work since the roads to her office were clear (just have to watch out for cats in the hallway and on the steps).

Casey's first look at the snow!

Just don't eat the yellow stuff!

warm again! We'll have to teach him about hot chocolate next. He tried it and threw the sippy cup on the floor (so daddy finished it)

Sorry this is so short, but he stood there for the first 45 seconds and I just didn't think that would be "must-see-tv" for anyone.

Ah the obligatory "naked butt" video to be saved for his high school graduation party and/or wedding.
